So sorry to read about your enormous loss. My heart understands this kind of sadness too. May the sweet memories of him remind you how much he loved you also. 💞

Sheila, what a bittersweet reminder to give our pets an extra cuddle. Oliver sounds like quite a character and one who amplified the love that's ever-present in your life. When our cat Alice died, I grieved for months. How well I relate to the blur you've been experiencing. I'm thinking of you. 🌈❤️🐾

So sorry for your loss Sheila. These are such hard experiences to move through. I raise a glass to Oliver. Your “Quote of the Week” provides the insight and perspective that helps greatly in the wake of a difficult loss. There is - though it can be hard to discern when you’re in the thick of it - a degree of “magic in the tragic,” the title of a helpful book on grief I am currently reading by John Tsilimparis. Take good care. 🙏

Thank you Eric! I will have to check out that book...it sounds like a great read.

All loss is heartbreaking, but cats, dogs, and all others who come into our lives share so much more than our home. They are each a source of unconditional love, making the physical loss that much more painful. I am so sorry for your loss! 💝

My dear Ellie was my rock when my husband died. When she died it was like losing both of them again. It took a few years but I adopted a rescue and we saved each other. Give it time but know there is another pet waiting to be loved.

Thank you Char for sharing about Ellie - she sounds like she was exactly what you needed when you needed her most, and I'm so sorry for that double loss you experienced. Your story reminds me that everyone's grief timeline is different. For you it was a few years, and for me it was just days - but in both cases, we knew when our hearts were ready. Oreo, my new 6-year-old rescue, is already helping to fill the quiet spaces Oliver left behind. Thank you for the encouragement and for your understanding...

I am so, so sorry about the loss of your cat. They become our best friends, and losing them suddenly is incredibly hard. Know that you gave a challenging cat a wonderful home and life. I hope that after some time to recover, you consider acquiring a new friend. There are hundreds hoping for a chance at a home as wonderful as yours. God bless you.

Thank you so much for your compassion and understanding. Losing Oliver was devastating, and you're right - he was my best friend through some very challenging times. I'm grateful to let you know that I didn't have to wait long to open my heart again. Just a week after losing Oliver, I adopted Oreo, a 6-year-old cat whose previous family didn't want him anymore. We both needed each other, and he's already bringing joy back into my home. Thank you for encouraging me to consider giving another cat a chance at a loving home. God bless you too.
