What is this?

This newsletter started as one way to spread kindness and share positive news stories. As a former teacher and librarian, I loved incorporating different projects and opportunities for my students to see how important it is to treat everyone as you would want to be treated.

My personal mission can be summed up by the words, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  Most people who read the previous line instantly recognize what is commonly known as the “Golden Rule”.  It is a timeless and universal teaching.

In a time period where we are inundated with computers, texting, smartphones and multi-media entertainment, it is my hope to remind people of what unites us as human beings – our ability, and our choice, to be kind and compassionate to others, through our words and our actions.

How did you get into this?

For 28 years I worked as an elementary school teacher and library media specialist and during that time (for ten years) I wrote a monthly column for the Wausau Daily Herald and the Everest Herald.  Topics in those columns included strategies for improving literacy, book reviews and parent tips for teaching their children about online safety.

In 2011 I self published a memoir entitled Leaning Into the Light where I shared my personal experiences with dealing with chronic illness.

Now I am excited as I continue to write and hopefully, through my newsletter, spread uplifting stories.

What do I get for signing up?

Each week I share a personal essay that discusses my experiences with a variety of topics - the importance of community, dealing with chronic illness, facing the loss of loved ones, spreading kindness, etc.

The remainder of the online format allows me to share video links to a variety of additional topics that include inspirational TED talks, informative videos on supporting mental health issues and many more, including my personal favorite, what I call “Smile videos” - human interest stories that show specific examples of how kindness is being spread each and every day throughout our country.

Do I have to pay for this?

My weekly posts are free. My support comes from my subscribers and I really appreciate it. If you enjoy what the Kindness Boomerang newsletter provides, please feel free to share this link on your social media or just through conversation, etc. If you haven’t yet, you can sign up to get this newsletter delivered to your email account every week.

I enjoy writing and spreading positive stories and information - Thank you for your support!

Can we work together?

Yes - I would love to collaborate! My goal is to get more people experiencing the joy of kindness and if you have a story idea or want to share your photos or writing, please email me - Thank you!
