“Don’t wait for a perfect moment. Take a moment and make it perfect.”
We do it without thought, every day of our lives. It is how we live…literally.
Lately I have been focusing on it more…maybe because I have felt more stress…maybe because I have been trying to get healthier and happier…
Turning off the phone, the television, the computer and just sitting in silence and listening…to the sound of my breath…
I must admit that the only times in my past when I was really aware of my breathing was when I was having a hard time doing it…most notably a three day hospital stay 15 years ago for a bad case of pneumonia…
So why do we wait until our bodies cry out for help before we listen to them?
We don’t have to…we can start today…right now…
It’s as simple as prioritizing how you spend your personal time.
I know that sounds easier than it actually is but as you age, you come to the realization that our time is limited and how we spend it and who we spend it with, matters.
And the one person we spend the most time with is ourselves. So why not make the most of it and focus on ways to improve that time?
Mindfulness and breath work are interchangeable. As I continue to learn more about the power behind meditation and prayer, I have added focusing on using breath work to improve my daily living.
There are so many wonderful resources that are available to us and they are just a click, tap or page turn away…
J.R.R. Tolkien once said, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us…”
Taking time every day to focus on relaxing, praying, breathing…feeling the world around you and within you…
It may seem simple and yet within that lies the treasure that is you…Take a few moments, focus on the breath and exhale…happiness….it’s closer than you realize…

Children’s Corner
Back in 1999, when I was an elementary school librarian, I started a project where I wrote letters (old fashioned, printed letters) to a variety of famous people. This was prior to the daily use of email and text messages. My questions were simple…
1) From your own life experiences, how has reading affected your life in a positive manner?
2) Was there any particular person or experience in your life that made you aware of the value of literature and the importance of reading?
I am going to share these letters and let you experience the joy many of my students (and myself) have gotten from their touching words - Here is this week’s:
This week’s Smile video…
