“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.”
Every autumn Mother Nature shows us the transition from summer into fall. Temperatures plummet, leaves turn color, you wake up to frost on the grass and then you realize that you have witnessed the transformation…watching one season evolve into the next.
Our lives can also be viewed in this same light. There are different stages we go through, different seasons, times when we are enjoying the warm temperatures and green grass and other times when it is colder, darker and perhaps not what we expected nor planned.
The past few weeks have been a time of transformation for me.
I am not ready to reveal how my life will change or where the road ahead is taking me. Quite honestly, I am not really sure at this point.
What I am sure of is that life is still beautiful, love is eternal and compassion and kindness will always continue to be the focus of my life. And when I find myself discouraged or filled with negative energy, I will stop, press the reset button and become the Sheila I have always been, deep down, in my soul…a kind, empathetic individual who always wants to make a positive difference whenever she can…
I also realize that taking in each moment and leaning into the light that others provide for me, will help me, as it always has, as I work toward moving forward…
One of my favorite poets, and also my father’s favorite, was Robert Frost. The Road Less Taken has echoed in my mind for the last several days.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The comparison of roads has always intrigued me and reminded me that life has moments when you come to a fork in the road and you must choose your next path. I have honestly felt more comfortable with the well-worn, typical path most choose but now I will need to pivot and go a new direction…unplanned, unexpected but oh so necessary…
I look forward to the difference it will make and the new experiences it will bring…

I asked my niece, Jennifer Malphy, if she could share some of her nature photos with my newsletter audience. Each week I will feature a new photo. Here is this week’s:
This week’s Smile Video
After Sonja White's first grade students told her their one wish was to fly on a plane, she went full throttle on the pretend. Steve Hartman has the story in "On the Road."

Mind/Body Connections…
Focus music is a powerful tool for enhancing a person's creativity and productivity. Listening to the right kind of focus music can help people stay more energized and focused when working on a creative project or task. This type of music is designed to provide listeners with an ambient background sound that keeps them engaged in their work without distracting them.
Music Moments
Music inspires me in many ways. Here’s one of my favorites, Lionel Richie…Enjoy!
