"Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble." -Yehuda Berg
Earlier this week I had a book review published on one of my favorite Substack newsletters, The Books That Made Us. I submitted it back in July 2023 and I was so excited to see it published. It is about one of the books that made a real difference in my life.
I hope you enjoy reading my essay here and if you haven’t read the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, I hope you take some time to read it. It is an incredible book!
What do you think?

1) From your own life experiences, how has reading affected your life in a positive manner?
2) Was there any particular person or experience in your life that made you aware of the value of literature and the importance of reading?
I am going to share these letters and let you experience the joy many of my students (and myself) have gotten from their touching words - Here is this week’s:
This week’s Smile video…
More than four years ago, Staci Green's mother was killed in a car crash in Georgia. The other driver in the crash, Nikia Cherry, pled guilty to vehicular homicide. Since then, Green and Cherry have formed a close and unlikely friendship. Steve Hartman has their story in "On the Road."
